This foot mobilisation course is open to all HCPC registered podiatrists, chiropodists, physiotherapists, doctors, nurses, chiropractors.
A podiatric joint manipulation/mobilisation technique is a manual therapy which specifically targets stiff, dysfunctional joints to improve joint movement, ease pain and assist with gait and overall posture.
It is an effective and safe treatment for painful joints and stiffness due to tissues/ tendon injury. This technique can be beneficial with combined other modality i.e. Prescription orthotics.
This highly intensive training course combines both theory and practical, covering;
Theory
- Review of anatomy of the lower extremity
- Theory – Motion testing and palpation
- Principles of leverage and coupled motion in manipulation
- Combining leverages
- Contraindications and red flag pathologies
- Explanation of HVT, Grade 1-5 mobilisations
Practical
- Motion testing and palpation
- Mobilisation, muscle energy techniques and manipulative techniques will be demonstrated to the foot ankle and lower extremity.
- Care of patient and care of self
Course delegates will be practicing the techniques on one another during the practical training. Pre-course reading will be provided.
Tutor
Somuz Miah, CFPodM, BSc (PodM), Dip Sp.I, PGC IP, MFPM RCPS (Glasg), is a qualified Sports Practitioner & Podiatrist (Diploma Sports injuries & Electro Therapy). Somuz is qualified in Spinal & Peripheral Joint Manipulation HVLA. He has been practicing podiatry for over 24 years. Somuz is a Consultant Podiatrist Prescriber & Member of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons Glasgow.
This course is fully accredited by The Institute of Podiatrists.
